First grade students learned all about polar bears in creating these drawings. Did you know that polar bears have black skin? And that their fur looks whites, but is actually clear hollow tubes! Student used chalk to create the texture of fur and cut paper and crayons to make the habitat.
As part of our unit on line, students began drawing abstracted owls. We looked at an image of a great horned owl for inspiration, but simplified the shapes to make it more abstract. Students then focused on giving the owl texture by filling areas with line patterns that we have been practicing. They added color using a variety of media, complete with stars in the background. |
