Kindergarten students learned about color mixing using Model Magic Clay. They first learned about the primary and secondary colors and how to use the color wheel. The book Mouse Paint and the OK Go Primary Colors video helped to reinforce these ideas. They then mixed primary colors of clay to make the secondary colors. It took lots of kneading and twisting to make even colors. As a bonus, they learned that by mixing in white clay, it would make the original color lighter. Students rolled their clay into spheres that were made into necklaces in a later class.
