Just in the nick of time, 305 finishes their Plushies on the last day of school!
Continuing our study into careers in art, seventh grade students are experimenting with interior designs. They at working in pairs to create rooms, integrating their cardboard chairs from our furniture design project into the room. They could choose any theme they wanted for the rooms, and they are very diverse! Designs range from a One Direction room, to a barber shop, to a room in an underground bunker! Take a look at their works below! Sixth graders study Ancient Greece and Rome in social studies, so we thought we would take a look at the three main types of columns: Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian. We learned the names if each style and practiced identifying them in contemporary architecture. Then we focused on the most ornate of the columns, Corinthian. In ancient times the leaf decoration was inspired by the acanthus leaf, ours were inspired by various plants and animals and student projects found online. Symmetry achieved through a transfer process, focus on detail, and bold colors made these columns turn out amazing! |
