Kindergarten has been examining texture. We looked at items of all different textures and tried to name words to describe how they felt. Each student was given a texture envelope containing 7 different texture items. We played a texture game, using only our sense of touch to try to pick out the items that matched our descriptive words. "Can you find the slick piece? The rough? Silkly? Bumpy, squishy?" The kids had lots of fun playing this game, then we did crayon rubbings of the pieces. During the next class we did more rubbings of texture plates and the bottom of our shoes!
